To set up an MPEG player for SGI:
Netscape Navigator needs to be set up to apply the proper helper application:
- In Navigator, choose "Edit", then "Preferences"
- In the left window, expand the index tree under "Navigator", then click on "applications"
- Scroll down the list in the left window until (in the description column) you find "video/x-mpeg-system"
The 2nd column ("handled by") SHOULD say "PlugIn: Movieplayer."
However, if that has not been configured, it will read "Prompt User"
- To configure it, select the row with "video/x-mpeg-system", then click Edit
On the window that pops up, "Desc" can be blank, "Suffixes" should list "mps, sys", and the application is Movieplayer (which is located at "/usr/sbin/movieplayer -v -nofork %s" on my machine)
Your machine may need some applications loaded if this configuration is not already there.
